As I’m unemployed and scrounging around for money, I decided to sell my CDs. Who needs them right? I can just download all my CDs to iTunes. So the last time my mom came to visit, I had her bring me my teenage CD collection.

The best (and easiest) place to do sell your CDs is SecondSpin.com. Why is it better than having a garage sale or bringing your CDs down to Warehouse (I don’t know if they even have those stores anymore) is that you can sell them from home. You just type in the artist/album and they tell you how much they’ll buy it for. You send them all your CDs and in 2 weeks they send you a check. That’s right, they send you CASH and not something stupid like store credit.

So far, I’ve earned $5.00 for Snoop Dogg’s Doggy Style, $0.25 for Jordan Knight (at least they’re buying it!) and with my other 20 CDs I’ll be getting $75! Seriously pull out your old CDs and see what you can get.

TIP: If you’re inputing a lot of CDs make sure to do it all in one sitting. I thought it would keep a record of the CDs in my cart so I closed my browser. When went back to the website the cart was empty.

I’ve been reading Suze Orman’s The Money Book for the Young, Fabulous & Broke (which you should read too, but get it from your local library don’t buy it) and I signed up today for my customized YF&B action plan. If you want to get started on the plan and don’t have the book now go to www.suzeorman.com and click on “YF&B”. Enter the Access Code “YF&B”. There’s a few questions to answer about your personal finance situation and then from there (and don’t ask me how) she develops an Action Plan for your finances. Besides that there are a bunch of great resources such as links to credit counselor, how to write a will, etc. It seriously helps just to take some steps to figuring out to do. Honestly, I had some not so good credit score news and signing up for this service made me feel A LOT better.

As we live in a society where introductions are made by the dreaded question, “What do you do?”, I made the attempt to rejoin society by getting myself free personal business cards. A victim of startups and the failing economy, I was recently laid off and thus living in a limbo of not having a title so I went onto VistaPrint and gave myself a new one (actually a bunch of new ones).

I’m sure VistaPrint is not anything new (it came up at the top of a Google search for “free business cards”) but some of you might be new to it like I was. They give you 250 business cards for free plus the cost of shipping which starts at $5 depending on how fast you need it. In return for this great deal, you must let them print their name and website on the back for free advertising of their company. That’s fair, isn’t it?

Now if you have a custom design for your business card try 4OVER4. They offer the same sort of deal but you’re allowed to upload your own artwork. I myself didn’t have the time or money to design mine so I just used one of the many different template VistaPrint offers

myFico.com’s Got Your Back!

I was so happy to receive an email from myFico.com letting me know that my credit score went up by 13 points today!

Do you know your credit score? Have you checked it recently? If you answered no, to either question, I highly recommend signing up to myfico.com. Signing up for ScoreWatch at myFico will enable you to get your FICO credit score, a credit report from Equifax, help on how to increase your score and alerts on when it changes (like the one I got today!). Its all displayed in an easy to understand format on the site with charts and plain old English. They don’t use fancy financial terms to confuse you.

If you’re not totally convinced try it out for free for 30 days. Then after that it’s $89.95 for the whole year. You can also sign up for free trials with TrueCredit.com (Transunion) and Exeperian.com to compare their services but I think you’ll still end up liking myFico better. I absolutely love it and I really think you will too.

Not wanting to bore my friends anymore with my new financial “knowledge” (please keep in mind I’m using this term very loosely), I’ve decided to share it all here.

It’s everything I’m learning while I’m trying to get out of a huge amount of debt and raising my crappy credit score. Between the dos and don’ts, there’ll be some tips on actually enjoying yourself, and your life, while building your relationship with money.
